GOD'S WORD: THE BIBLE

"For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." - 2 Peter 1:21  It is easy to say "The Bible was written by man" - or "The Bible is just another book." These can be said about ANY book. But this is not the case concerning the Bible.   Men were "God's pen" - yes.  But only to that extent.  Consider the prophecies - dozens of them - foretelling future events then verifying them when they happened - many of which were hundreds of years later.  And what you read was not written by one person, but dozens, many which never met each other, yet there is perfect harmony between their writings. It is also historically correct.  Therefore it is God-inspired.  It is not foolish to believe that the God of the Universe is capable of giving humanity a handbook for life.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" - 2 Timothy 3:16

"Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the WORD OF TRUTH." - 2 Timothy 2:15 This is where many go astray - forming an opinion of the Bible but not researching it for themselves.

Jesus said: "There is a judge for those who refuse to believe in me and do not accept my words. The word I have taught will be their judge on the last day." - John 12:48 (New Century Version)  Jesus also said in John 6:63 - "It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." The Bible is actually the operator's manual for the human race.

Psalm 138:2 - "...you have magnified your Word above all your Name."

"Heaven and earth will pass away (be changed), but my Words will not pass away." - Matthew 24:3 "I can guarantee this truth: Until the earth and the heavens disappear (as we now know them, because God will create a New Heavens and a New Earth as promised in 2 Peter 3:13), neither a period nor a comma will disappear from Moses' Teachings before everything has come true." - Matthew 5:18 (God's Word Translation c 1995)

Psalm 119:9 - "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to your word."
